CITY of York Athletics Club youngster Josh Schofield is making a name for himself as a sporting allrounder.

The Year 9 Huntington School pupil finished sixth in the Aviva ESAA English Schools’ Cross Country Championships in Somerset after winning the Yorkshire title.

And the athlete also claimed a third place finish in the National Schools’ Biathlon Championships at Crystal Palace in London.

Schofield, who won the run in his age category, was joined in the capital by fellow Huntington pupil Carrie Suddes, of Year 8, who finished 27th, and her sister Ellen, a Year 9 pupil, who was 32th.

A field of 900 pupils tackled a run and a swim in the Pentathlon GB-run competition held at the National Sports Centre.
