YORK Shotokan Karate Club ace Eleanor Dook claimed two podium finishes at the Scottish National Karate Championships in Edinburgh.

The 16-year-old second Dan black belt, pictured, returned home clutching trophies in Kata (forms) and Kumite (sparring).

The teenager has been part of JKS England’s competitive squad which has enjoyed considerable success recently.

She was second in the Kumite and third in Kata in an event where England were the outsiders against a strong Scottish squad on their home turf.

Dook has been training at the York Shotokan Karate Club for eight years and has become an experienced competitor at national and international level, winning a gold medal recently in the European Championships in Denmark. The York Shotokan Karate Club has been running since 1961 and is the oldest karate club in York, training at Knavesmire Primary on Mondays and Fishergate Primary on Wednesdays.
