MEDALS abounded after 42 swimmers qualified to represent York City Baths Club at the annual Yorkshire SA Winter Championships in Sheffield.

Some exceptional individual performances were recorded in the Ponds Forge pool, with the squad recording numerous personal bests.

The impressive 11-year-old Paris Grenier gained two silver medals - in the 100 metres breaststroke and 200m individual medley - to complement two top ten displays in the 100m butterfly and freestyle.

Two bronze medals, in the 100m butterfly and freestyle, came the way of ten-year-old Beth Gibbons while the experienced 16-year-old campaigner, Annie Johnston, took bronze in the 100m breaststroke and finished in the top ten in each of the five events for girls aged 14 and over.

Oliver Creighton, nine, put in the most consistent performance among the boys - just missing out on a medal in the 50m freestyle - and secured four top ten finishes.
