NETBALL honours were bagged by St Peter's and St Margaret's Schools in national tournaments hosted by York's Joseph Rowntree School.

The under-16 national schools' tournament comprised 18 teams entered into 'A' and 'B' events.

Section one was dominated by Joseph Rowntree and St Peter’s and saw another close fought match with Joseph Rowntree losing 5-4, though bot teams went into the semi-finals.

St Peter's toppled Queen Margaret's 6-4 while Huntington ousted hosts Jo-Ro 9-4 to set up a final which was won 11-6 by St Peter's.

More than 50 Year 11 teams competed in the 'B' tournament in which Jo-Ro teams finished first and second.

Nine teams vied for honours in the U19s national tournament which was dominated by Joseph Rowntree, St Peter’s and Queen Margaret’s.

The final placings were decided in the last match between Joseph Rowntree and St Peter’s. A draw would secure Joseph Rowntree first place with Queen Margaret’s second.

Jo-Ro led for most of the game until the last-minute with the sides locked at 6-6. Then, St Peter's nicked a late winner which gave Queen Margaret’s the overall first position.

Goal average determined that St Peter's pipped Jo-Ro to the other regional qualifying place.

U19s final placings: 1 Queen Margaret’s, 2 St Peter’s, 3 Joseph Rowntree, 4 Huntington, 5 Bootham, 6 All Saints, 7 Archbishop Holgate’s, 8 Fulford, 9 The Mount
