A CRACK quartet of North Yorkshire athletes won team gold in the North East region round of the English Schools’ Athletics Association combined events competition in Doncaster - led by Huntington School starlet Alice Linaker.
The winning team comprised Samantha Baker-Jones, a Giggleswick School pupil who competes for Harrogate Harriers, City of York Athletic Club’s Lucy Hadaway, of Manor School, and Linaker, and Megan Sanders, of Tadcaster Grammar and Leeds City Athletic Club.
The combined events competition consisted of 75-metres hurdles, long jump, high jump, shot putt and 800 metres.
Linaker was first overall, Hadaway fourth, Sanders fifth and Baker-Jones eighth, landing them first place in the team event and a place in the national finals in September.
