RILLINGTON and Malton Community Primary School came out on top in the Primary Schools ‘Annual Key Stage 2 swimming gala, which took place at the Derwent Pool in Norton.

Cath Stone set up the six-team competition which also included Terrington, Langton, St Mary’s and Amotherby, with help coming from Sports leaders at Norton College.

Leah Sturdy of Rillington School won the girls’ breaststroke event with Harry Walls from Malton taking first place in the boys’ competition.

In the girls’ backstroke, Alexandra Marshall (Rillington) and Katy Pearson (Amotherby) took the first place award with Tony Huntriss (Langton) celebrating the boys’ honour.

Ella White from St Mary’s School and Arthur Reese of Amotherby won the front crawl in the girls’ and boys’ events respectively.

Team honours went to Rillington who finished first and were awarded the trophy for their efforts. Malton Community Primary School came second.

Both teams will go to the Sports Partnership finals on Thursday, June 12, at Ryedale Pool in Pickering.
