YORK City Baths Club was represented by ten swimmers in the Youth & Seniors North East Regional Championships at Sunderland Aquatics Centre.

Annie Johnston came seventh in the women's 200 metres butterfly in a time of two minutes and 25.52 seconds, twice bettering her personal best time in the process.

Freya Beck also came seventh, in the women's 200m backstroke.

While no other YCBC swimmers made a final, there were some sterling performances.

Matthew Winnell had a strong 100m backstroke, coming a creditable 17th in the final standings, while Ben Nicholson swam a personal best 2:27.44 in his 200m backstroke and Alex Riches an excellent 31.87, also a PB, in his 50m backstroke swim.

For the lasses, it was championship debutant Ellie Griffin who heads our line up.

In both her 100m (1:22.53) and 200m (2:58.20) breaststroke swims, she swam strongly to post PBs in both in hat was her debut in a 50m pool.

Charisse Charlton put in a good 50m butterfly swim, while Carrie Suddes tried her best in her 100m breaststroke. Injury forced her to sit out her 200m swim.

Ellen Suddes swam a strong 2:51.29 in her 200m breaststroke, giving her 12th place, while Sophie Brown gave good 50m sprint performances in backstroke, butterfly and freestyle, as well as 1:01.70 in her 100m free swim being a good PB.

Freya Beck also posted a strong 400m swim to finish 13th in the final places, and Johnston a good 100m butterfly swim to finish 15th in the standings.

Beck, Johnston, Brown and Ellen Suddes teamed up in both the 4x100 freestyle and medley relay events.

A determined 4:14.77 in the free gave them tenth place and they finished seventh in the medley recording 4:39.83.
