TADCASTER Swim Squad’s Alex Williams was crowned Yorkshire champion in the ten-yearold 50-metre butterfly.
Williams also won bronze in the freestyle at the competition, which culminated in the sprint events at Ponds Forge in Sheffield.
In earlier galas, Boston Spa-based Williams placed fifth in the 200m freestyle, while Harry Souter, 12, of Barwick-in-Elmet, made the final of 100m and 200m backstroke.
Other swimmers taking part were Alex Heard, 13, of Stutton, Marija Hiscott, 11, of Brayton, Rachael McHenery, 13, of Tockwith, Lily Walker, 14, of Newton Kyme, Charlotte Black, 13, of Garforth, Jemima Browning, 13, of Clifford, Tom Carswell, 13, of Tadcaster, Chloe Collins, 14, of Tadcaster, Oli Hackwell, 15, of Wistow, Holly Moss, 10, of Tadcaster, and Ellie Walker, 12, of Garforth.
Meanwhile, a team of 11 swimmers from Tadcaster Swim Squad also took part in the Kingston-upon-Hull ‘A’/’B’ Grade Gala, producing 19 personal best times and ten short course squad records.
The squad claimed five gold, three silver and three bronze medals, with Collins achieving a North East time for the 50m backstroke.
The gold medalists were Browning, Collins, Jonathon White, 16, of Tadcaster, with two, and Williams.
