TEAM Jorvik’s Zak Moorcroft achieved two top ten finishes in the Yorkshire Championships series of swimming galas.

Moorcroft, 13, came in the top ten in the 100 metres and 200m backstroke distance events in Leeds, while he joined 17-year-old Max Nozedar and Emily Hill, 11, in achieving a full set of personal best long course times.

At the sprint events in Sheffield, Esme Littlewood, 13, and Rhiannon Wood, 13, joined Hill and Moorcroft in representing Team Jorvik.

All previous long course personal times were smashed by the swimmers, with Moorcroft missing out on a medal by 0.17 seconds as he finished fourth in the 50m backstroke.

In the team relay events, the 11 and 12 year old girls’ freestyle team of Jessica Buckton, Emily Hill, Yasmin Hardaker and Natasha Sanderson clocked a time seven seconds under their entry time. They also took seconds off their medley time in the next race.

The boys’ open age group team of Max Nozedar, Jordan Littlewood, Harry Nozedar and Joseph Senior shaved two seconds off both their freestyle and medley entry times.

Not to be outdone, the girls’ 13 and 14 year old team of Esme Littlewood, Rhiannon Wood, Antonia Bunyan, Georgia Kemp and Ellie Fothergill lopped three seconds off both of their relay entry times.
