A GROUP of East Yorkshire pupils have won a golden ticket in a nationwide competition to spend the day with Olympian Jessica Ennis-Hill after being picked from thousands of entries.

Driffield School is one of only 15 schools from across the UK taking part in the once-in-a-lifetime experience following a competition by Sky Sports Living for Sport, a free UK secondary schools initiative delivered in partnership with the Youth Sport Trust.

A band of 20 pupils will spend the day with the heptathlete on March 27 at her training base, the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield.

Andy Duke, head of PE at Driffield School, said: “Our pupils were so excited to hear they are heading to Sheffield thanks to Sky Sports Living For Sport and the Youth Sport Trust. It really is a golden ticket.

“I’m sure they are going to be inspired by Jessica Ennis-Hill and all the amazing athletes they meet there.

“We know very well at this school the way sport can help boost confidence and change lives for so many young people - and so it’s a wonderful opportunity. We can’t wait for the big day.”
