Second fine win for York City Knights under-18s

JAMES FORD’S under-18s team continue to fly the flag for York City Knights after a second fine win in two outings.

The young Knights followed up their opening victory over Oldham with a 40-14 win at Keighley on Saturday – despite being delayed on the journey to Cougar Park as their coach broke down, meaning kick-off was put back 40 minutes.

Tries came from Harry Carter (2), Ash Haynes, Greg Minikin, Ash Winstanley, Adam Dent and Matt Brewer, who added six goals.

Among those to stand out were Heworth hooker Josh Poulter, York Acorn stand-off Brewer, left, and winger Dent – brother of Knights’ open-age player Ben, the former New Earswick amateur.

The Knights U18s’ next match is against Leigh at Heworth next Friday.
