YORK Acorn ARLC Under-18s completed the first leg of a potential notable treble this week – albeit by default.
Acorn lifted the Yorkshire Youth Combination League division one trophy after finishing top on points-difference above Normanton Knights.
Both teams had identical records of 15 wins and three defeats but Acorn’s points-difference is 78 better.
Acorn’s last game of the season was called off last weekend when Hunslet Parkside conceded, the Blue and Golds being awarded the default 24-0 win.
Normanton had one game left in which to make up the points- difference shortfall but their match this weekend was also conceded 24-0 by Parkside.
That duly confirmed Acorn’s title triumph.
U18s coach, and club chairman, Mick Lumby said: “I’m chuffed to bits with them all and the way they performed.”
Acorn U18s were due to meet West Bowling at Thanet Road tomorrow in the semi-finals of the top-four play-offs but that tie will now be rearranged at the visitors’ request.
Acorn are also in the final of the U18s League Cup, where they will meet premier division side Shaw Cross Sharks.
