TREBLE-CHASING York Acorn ARLC Under-18s host mid-table Hunslet Parkside in their last league game tomorrow (kick off 11.30am) knowing a victory will almost certainly give them the Yorkshire Youth Combination League division one title.
It is complicated at the top of the table as Acorn currently sit at the summit on points-difference above Cottingham, Normanton and West Bowling.
Cottingham and West Bowling have completed their games, but Cottingham’s points-difference is only two worse than Acorn’s so if Acorn lose by more than two points, Cottingham will go top.
Normanton also have one game to play – also against Parkside next weekend – but their points-difference is 78 worse than Acorn’s so they would need a big swing in the points-difference column should the Blue and Golds win. If Acorn lose, Normanton will win the league if they win their last game. Basically, Acorn need to win and the bigger the margin the better.
The Blue and Golds are also through to the Yorkshire Youth Cup final, where they will meet premier division side Shaw Cross Sharks, and they will seek another trophy in the division one Top Four Play-offs.
