HEWORTH ARLC Under-10s return to action after their summer break and put in an outstanding team performance against West Bowling.

In a dominant first-half display, Heworth raced in for three unanswered tries through man of the match Jay Ogilvie (2) and Tyler Monks.

In the second half, the young Villagers picked up where they had left off, with strong running from Jamaal Tokalau - the opposition's choice of man of the match - laying the foundation for Jay Richards to score, before Ogilvie completed his hat-trick after good work from top tackler Tom Clarke.

West Bowling never gave up and got rewarded for their efforts with a try on the final whistle but this could not take away from Heworth's best display of the season so far.

Heworth U9s, with confidence high after three gala triumphs during the summer, restarted their league rugby where they left off before the holidays with an impressive performance against visitors Dearne Valley Bulldogs.

After slow start in which the visitors scored first, Heworth, with attacking options aplenty and good movement of the ball from side to side, got on top.

Oliver Pratt scored three tries, with Kian Ogilvie, who made some dynamic runs and was picked as man of the match by Dearne Valley for a great all round display, also crossing.

Ben Young and Lucas Burden both crossed for a brace of tries apiece.

The visitors scored another four tries themselves but Heworth proved too good on this occasion.

Oliver Lambert produced some powerful runs, earning him a share of the parents' man of the match award with the impressive Young, while Keane Brough again shone, being joint top tackler with Burden.

Arthur Hodgson was the most improved player, with Reagan Brough and Feargus Brown sharing coaches' man of the match accolade.

Jake Hopkin took the magic moment award for the way he set up one of Young's tries as a set move came to fruition.

Heworth U8s started the second half of their season with a resounding victory against Brotherton Bulldogs.

Heworth opened the scoring in the first minute through Ellis Cochrane and, from then on, great attacking from parents' man of the match Harvey Monks and man of steel Harvey Barker gave Adam Hodgson the room to grab a four-try haul.

Top tackler Callum Costanzo (2) and Thomas Hardy also scored in the second half, while Leon and Ryan Jones received awards for the performances in defence and attack in their first game for the villagers.
