HEWORTH ARLC Under-11s cruised to a convincing win over Keighley Albion at Elmpark Way.

The Villagers youngsters started slowly and Keighley opened the scoring, taking advantage of a kick penalty and a missed tackle to scoot over.

The home team responded in superb fashion. They spun the ball quickly through several pairs of hands for Myles Harrison to cross in the corner and add the two points.

Again Heworth managed to spread the ball wide, where man of the match Flynn Pagdin evaded his marker and ran almost half the length of the pitch to score, Leon Mooring tagging on the extras.

Heworth were rampant now and the hard working and reliable Callum Rutland spotted a gap to wriggle in and add the conversion.

The home team continued to try to play expansive rugby in the second period and once again Harrison found a turn of pace to outstrip the defence for an unconverted try.

Keighley refused to give up and, after some pacy work up the middle, worked their way to the line, where they spotted a gap and squeezed in for a converted score.

The Heworth boys again responded and the impressive Kai Brownlee proved too fast and strong, carrying three tacklers over the line to touch down.

On the next set, Rutland put another cross bomb up and Harrison was sharpest to react, out-jumping the defence to claim his hat-trick in style.

With time running out Rutland again proved his value, spotting another gap to scoot through a tiring defence. This time Josh Atkin Stone added the extras.

The victory was the ideal way to celebrate a sponsorship deal with Kingston Timberframe, who have supplied the team with tracksuits and bags.
