HEWORTH ARLC Under-11s bounced back in style from a disappointing result to beat Illingworth 30-12.

The Villagers conceded an early converted try but great movement on a set play allowed Cameron Donald to score in the corner, Myles Harrison goaling.

Man-of-the-match Callum Rutland then scooted to the posts, Leon Mooring adding the extras.

Good work by Spencer Harris in the initial break led to Kane Cavanagh crossing, before Illingworth cut the deficit to 16-12 at half-time.

A long-range break by Myles Harrison at the start of the second period went rewarded. He was caught just short but a quick play-the-ball and some great combination work with Rutland gave Harrison the chance to finish things off.

The players’ player-of-the-match award went to Kai Brownlee, whose great break saw Mooring on hand to score. Then Rutland combined with Harrison again to finish from distance, Cavanagh adding the extras.

Heworth U10s’ good form continued with a top display of hard defence against Irish Clovers.

Jay Ogilvie’s long-range effort got Heworth on the board and helped to earn him the parents’ and opposition’s man-of-the-match accolades. James Leach also crossed, out-jumping the defence to touch down.

Sam Phillips took the most improved award, Eden Martin the top tackler and Theo Walton the coaches’ man-of-the-match.

Oliver Pratt starred as Heworth U9s kept up their impressive form to get the better of Kippax in a pulsating match in the soaring heat at Elm Park Way.

The Villagers conceded two early tries but fought back in a terrific team performance led by Pratt, the coaches’ and opposition’s manof- the-match, Keane Brough, the parents’ man of the match, and Lucas Burden, who was joint-top tackler with Pratt.

Pratt scored five tries, Burden a hat-trick and Brough a brace. Sam Hunt, who impressed in the second half, also crossed.

Harry Brown was the most improved player, and Oliver Lambert took the the magic moment award.

Kian Ogilvie and Feargus Brown also impressed.

Heworth U8s were left frustrated after losing three tries to one to Lock Lane - all the points coming in the first half.

Lock Lane scored three quick tries before Heworth replied when Thomas Hardy, the opposition’s choice of man of the match, barged his way over.

Heworth had the majority of the chances in the second half, with top tackler Adam Hodgson and Harvey Monks going particularly close, but Lock Lane held out for the win.

Jonathon Hartley had his best game of the year to get Heworth’s man of steel award. Kenzie Witty was most improved and Ellis Cochrane the man of the match.

Bailey Monks also stood out.
