HEWORTH ARLC Under-10s have a new sponsor thanks to the support of a former Villagers player.

Simon Harrison, of York-based S Harrison Construction, who grew up in Heworth and lives in Burnholme, said he had always followed the club’s progress and was keen to help.

“Heworth are getting more junior players now and I wanted to give them some support,” he said.

Phil Mead, who has recently taken on the post of head coach, said the U10s, pictured above with Harrison, were improving their game with the players gaining more control, and the new kit would further strengthen team spirit when they went to matches.

“I really appreciate Simon’s sponsorship and the generosity for the tops,” he said. “Rugby is a team sport, and if you look the part, you play the part.

“The Under-10s are doing really well – out of the last three games they have lost one and won two, and they are away at Townville, Castleford, today.”

Heworth U10s train at Elmpark Way on Thursdays from 6pm.

Mead said new members were welcome to turn up, including newcomers to the sport.
