HEWORTH ARLC Under-10s had a great result at Meltham in one of the few junior games played over the Easter weekend.

A good team effort saw some excellent passing moves and nice rugby league which created several good tries.

Those to cross the whitewash were Jay Richards (2), Oliver Pratt, Theo Walton, James Leach and most improved player Jamaal Tokalau.

Tom Clarke was the man of the match.

Heworth U8s came close to a major shock against a much more experienced Castleford Panthers.

The Panthers had beaten them 9-0 the previous week but this time a much closer game ensued, before the Villagers went down 8-5.

A Harrison Barker hat-trick and an Ellis Cochrane double shocked the Castleford side before they finally pulled away late in the second half.

There were strong displays from Dan Clarke and, in their first games, Harvey Barker and Freddie Wilson.

Due to the large U8s squad this season, Heworth will be now running sides at both U7s and U8s level.

For any parents interested in bringing their children down, training is at 6pm every Wednesday at Elmpark Way.
