HEWORTH ARLC Under-18s attempt to seal a good last season together at youth level with silverware tomorrow.

The young Villagers, several of whom are breaking into the first team, travel to Upton to take on Drighlington in the final of the Yorkshire Youth League division two top-four play-offs (kick off 12.30pm).

Heworth will start as underdogs having finished third in the table. Drighlington topped the standings with only one defeat all term.

Meanwhile, James Kilgar took the magic moment award for an excellent hat-trick and some breathtaking defence when Sherburn Bears U9s played an entertaining game against new Leeds outfit Irish Clovers.

For Sherburn, there was strong running from Jake Wilkinson, Jack Todd, George Beal and debutant Megan Foyston and fine defence from James Kilgar, man-of-thematch Stanley Wilkes, Harry Calvert, Neave Romans and top tackler Wilkinson.

Romans, the opponents’ choice of man of the match, and Calvert joined Kilgar on the scoresheet.

Calvert’s try came from a barnstorming run and superb offload by Todd.

Heworth U8s finally got reward for their fine efforts with victory over Swillington.

Doubles from Callum Costanzo and Adam Hodgson plus further tries by Thomas Hardy, Kai Gatenby and Theo Edson in his first game helped to seal the win.

Charlie Cockerill and Joseph Wregglesworth also impressed.
