POCKLINGTON RUFC Under-16s were unable to upset the formbook as they exited the Yorkshire Cup to favourites West Park Leeds.

Pock were beaten 32-0 in the quarter-final clash at Percy Road, although the game was not as one-sided as the scoreline suggests.

The home side started on the attack with the wind at their backs and won an early penalty. However, the kick was pushed wide of the posts.

West Park took the lead with an unconverted try, while a Pocklington breakaway was halted short of the line.

The visitors added a penalty just before the break to lead 8-0 and they added two tries, one converted, after the interval to go 20-0 up.

Pocklington battled gamely, but West Park added two further tries, the first of which was converted.

York also fell at the last eight stage, drawing 13-13 at home to Old Brodleians who go through to the last four on the away team rule.

York trailed 8-3 at half-time but levelled with an unconverted try after the break. Brods moved 13-8 in front and although York responded with a try they were unable to get a winning score.
