YORK College rugby league team’s improvement hit the buffers in their latest outing as they suffered a 58-4 defeat at Leeds City College.

It was scoreless for 20 minutes but then Leeds got a quick treble and the floodgates opened, with York’s lone reply coming from a try from dummy-half by stand-in hooker Ben Pulleyn.

“Leeds are a very good team with a few players on or previously on Leeds Rhinos’ books, and we just played poorly,” said York College coach Jack Stearman.

“But it’s a lesson and it will help us progress and develop.”
