HARLOW Recreational Trust has awarded a £22,700 grant to Football Harlow so it can continue its work developing sport in the community.

Formed in July 2002, Football Harlow is an umbrella organisation that brings together 15 organisations representing football at all levels across the town.

Backed by Harlow Town Football Club vice chairman Steve Ray, the group has helped co-ordinate and organise a number of soccer initiatives for players of all abilities.

Harlow Recreation Trust chairman Tony Hall said: "I would like to say a special thank you to Steve Ray for being on the ball and driving the Football Harlow project forward. And congratulations to Harlow Town Football Club on receiving the prestigious Charter Standard Community Club status, which will help to generate top-level support for football in Harlow and enable many footballing initiatives.

"I'm sure Harlow will soon be top of the league for footballing excellence."
