A NINTH consecutive title win was a fitting farewell for peerless Bishopthorpe White Rose Under-16s.

The players have come to the end of their junior football journey with a host of accolades to their names.

Formed in 2003 by Gary Kitson and Andy Barkway, White Rose finished second in their first season, but went on to win the York Mitchell Sports League at U8s, U9s and U10s level.

On moving to 11-a-side football, Bishopthorpe won a league and cup double as U11s before winning the title as U12s.

They maintained their run of success in the York Minor League, with championship wins as U13s, U14s, U15s and U16s, including trophy trebles as U14s and U15s.

Youngsters Sam Ripley-Kitson and Sam Lake have played every season from U7s to U16s.
