A FIVE-GOAL second-half blitz saw York Cubs beat Rawcliffe Tigers 5-0 in the final of the York FA under-13s Minor Cup at Bootham Crescent.

The sides were level at the break in the final of the Pavers Shoes-backed competition.

Rawcliffe’s Billy Annett headed a goal-bound effort off his own line, while Aron Clark went close for Cubs and Brandon Ezard’s shot clipped the Rawcliffe bar.

Cameron Taylor and Jamie Butt had the Tigers’ best chances of the first half.

Within three minutes of the restart, man of the match Cameron Burdass gave the Cubs the lead with a 30-yarder.

Rawcliffe ’keeper Liam Powell pulled off a string of fine saves, but Marcus Deighton headed in a second goal with eight minutes left.

That goal knocked the stuffing out of the Tigers and Alex Cowes added two goals for the Cubs and Deighton also bagged his second.

The cup and medals were presented by Mark Granger, on behalf of sponsors Pavers Shoes.
