Thorpe United stun Hunslet to take second place

THORPE United Under-13s replaced Hunslet in second place in division two of the Garforth Junior Football League after beating their rivals 3-1.

The sides are level on points behind leaders Horsforth St Margaret’s Earthquakes, but Thorpe have two games in hand on Hunslet.

Thorpe opened the scoring when a long throw from Lewis Griffiths was bundled over the line by a Hunslet defender.

The Leeds hosts levelled the scores but Thorpe regained the lead before half-time when Corey Littlefield got on the end of ball from Griffiths and directed his header past the ’keeper.

Sean Hymers then headed in the third goal from a Griffiths throw. Ben Clowes and Haydn Brown were joint men of the match.
