YORK Schoolboys U11s were 4-1 friendly losers at Sheffield with man-of-the-match Isaac Meehan getting the consolation.
The first period ended goalless with Will Hollings looking strong and composed in defence and Taylor Bell also impressing at left-back.
However, after a host of substitutions in the second period, York looked slightly unsettled and Sheffield scored two goals in quick succession.
The visitors responded with a spectacular goal from Meehan but, despite Dan Myers and Harry Tinker linking up well on many occasions and posing the main threat down the right side, Sheffield finished the game with a flurry to secure a 4-1 triumph.
A notable performance in defeat came from George Turbine who worked tirelessly and showed some quality touches.
