YORK Schoolboys Under-12s are primed for the league campaign after rounding off their friendlies with a 3-0 win at Sheffield.
Man of the match Simeon Hopkinson played in Josh Hall and he scythed through the Sheffield defence before calmly finishing to put York 1-0 up after four minutes. Will Jarvis hit a post as York enjoyed the majority of possession but were unable to add to their tally before the end of the first period.
A stinging shot from Jarvis was parried by the Sheffield keeper and Declan Racher was the first to react to the loose ball to put York 2-0 up in the second minute of the second period.
Liam White and Luke Jones then combined to free Jarvis, who forged to the byline and cut the ball back for the onrushing Hall to put York 3-0 up.
Tom Eaton, Alfie Evans and White held firm in the face of Sheffield pressure and keeper Nathan Storr was also in fine form.
