YORK City in the Community have announced dates, venues and prices for their popular coaching sessions for the rest of the year.

City Tots are designed for preschool children aged between three and four with sessions created for parental involvement and aimed to instil the values of fun fitness.

The Tots learn ball-handling skills, balance and coordination through music, movement and fun games.

City Kickers, meanwhile, are designed for boys and girls aged from four to seven, who are enthusiastic about football and are ready to take the next step in early player development.

Sessions are fun and engaging and aimed at developing confidence and ability through individual and team work, as well as a range of ball skills.

City Development Centres are also available for boys and girls, aged from seven to 14, who want to develop their football skills in a non–competitive environment.

The centres are ideal as standalone training or in addition to playing for a local junior team and focus on developing the whole player, covering all aspects of the game, as well as placing emphasis on fitness and healthy eating.

The programme includes ball control, dribbling and turns, passing techniques, attacking, goal-scoring principles and defending, plus the opportunity to put new skills into practice with small-sided games.

Hand-picked players from the centres will also get the chance to attend a City Elite programme, which is intended to be a stepping stone to help develop young players further for referral to York City’s Centre of Excellence or the North Yorkshire Girls’ Centre of Excellence.

The training advances the players’ ability through the opportunity to work more closely with coaches and players of a similar standard and age.

Anybody wanting to reserve a place on any of the upcoming courses should phone 01904 624447.
