YORK Cubs Under-14s cruised to a North Riding County FA Cup final triumph as they thumped Cleveland Junior Hawks 6-0.

The Cubs made a storming start to the final, taking a third-minute lead through Daniel Zimer.

The Hawks went close to equalising from a succession of corners, but great defensive work from Dave Barber, Charlie Buckley and Milo Shore kept them at bay.

On eight minutes, Will Mouncher made a surging run from midfield and netted with a shot from just outside the 18-yard box.

A through ball from Keanan Crake on the left put Adam Hendry in to score the third, the striker's ninth goal of the campaign.

The Cubs worked tirelessly throughout, with superb contributions from Duke Witter, Ralph Sinclaire and Clayton Shepherdson.

The fourth goal came from a Mouncher free-kick into the area. The ball was cleared, but played back in for Lucas Hindle to rise above the defenders to score with a header.

A handball on the goalline earned Cubs a penalty, which Tom Flatters calmly placed past the keeper.

Midway through the second half, Cleveland were awarded a penalty but a great save by Cubs goalkeeper Ben Perry protected his clean sheet.

Ten minutes from time, superb skills from captain Noah Hindle earned him the sixth goal.
