DRINGHOUSES secured the York FA Under-19s Cup with a 1-0 victory over Wigginton Grasshoppers in the final at Tockwith.

Substitute Joe Galloway scored the only goal of the game as the York FA U19s League champions completed a trophy double.

Houses were the better team in the opening exchanges, creating a few half-chances but they could not finish.

James Hudson had a shot cleared off the Wigginton line and Sam Ripley-Kitson placed a header inches wide as Dringhouses started to pile on the pressure.

Their best efforts came in the 38th minute when Grasshoppers keeper James Todd pulled off a great save following a solo run and shot from Liam Robertson only for Tom Hawksby to loft the ball over the open goal from 12 yards.

During the second half, both sides started to cancel each other out but Wigginton went closest on 67 minutes when Callum Hurst forced a fantastic save from Jack Rushworth, who also palmed an Alex Robinson free-kick onto his crossbar moments later.

Dringhouses' James Hudson forced another good save out of keeper Todd but sub Galloway, who was threatening throughout, got the decisive goal in the 87th minute following a solo run to shoot under the Wigginton keeper.

The trophy was presented by North Riding FA chief executive Tom Radigan.

Pocklington Town Colts edged out Heworth with a 2-1 victory to lift the York FA Acaster Steel U12sJunior Cup at Tockwith.

Heworth’s Lucas Wilson had an early attempt that could not find the back of the net and at the opposite end Pocklington’s Jack Creaser shot just wide in the 18th minute.

Sam Parnell’s strike was cleared off the line by Heworth’s Will Rowntree, who ran the length of the pitch to almost score, creating a goal mouth scramble in the Pocklington area that could not work its way in.

The Colts opened the scoring in the 24th minute when Josh Broardbent tapped the ball in following a great cross from the wing. Lucas Wilson came close to equalising before the break with a 20-yard free-kick flying just over the Pocklington crossbar.

After the break, Heworth pressed forward and got their reward when Charlie Ward passed to Josh Goodway, who fired the ball in the Pock net to equalise from 15 yards.

Lucas Wilson almost put Heworth ahead when his 25-yard free-kick slammed against the crossbar. However, it was Pocklington who got the decisive goal through Jack Creaser when he scored from eight yards following an opening from a great corner kick.

Heworth battled for a second equalised but fell just short.
