STAMFORD Bridge Under-14s finished third in the City of York Girls’ Football League after a 1-0 victory over Wetherby in their final game.
Bridge finished with 11 wins and four draws from their 20 fixtures, finishing 20 points behind champions Poppleton Tigers and nine behind runners-up Ripon City Panthers.
The previous meeting between the sides ended in a 1-0 Stamford victory and the hosts sealed the same result courtesy of a last minute penalty.
The decisive moment came from an Ellie Whytock corner and Kirsten Wright’s goal-bound effort was handled on the line.

• Five City of York Girls’ Football League cup finals will be held at Poppleton’s Millfield Lane base on Saturday, May 3.
The under-11s final between York RI and Wigginton Grasshoppers kicks off at 10am, along with the U12s final between Bishopthorpe White Rose and Brayton Belles.
The U14s game pitting Poppleton Tigers against Fulford also gets under way at 10am.
The U13s tie between Brayton Belles and Scarborough is at 11am, with the U16s final between Kirkbymoorside and Poppleton Tigers kicking off at 11.15am.
