YORK Cubs Under-14s are counting down to a North Riding County FA Cup final date with Cleveland Hawks.
The Cubs are bidding to add the county trophy to their York F1 Racing Minor League division one title when they take on their Teesside opponents at County FA headquarters in Stokesley on Wednesday, kick off 6.30pm.
On the road to the final, the Cubs have fought their way past Brompton, Marske United, Skelton United and, in the semi-final, Redcar Athletic, all from the Teesside Junior Football Alliance League.
The York team’s attacking style of football has seen them score 156 goals in all league and cup competitions this season. Coach John Hindle said: “It’s been an absolute pleasure working with a great squad of enthusiastic players who really enjoy their football.
“The football they play week in, week out has been outstanding, exciting and a joy to watch. The boys thoroughly deserve to be league champions, County Cup and York FA cup finalists due to their commitment and hard work in training and the matches throughout this season.
“Whatever the outcome on the evening, win or lose it promises to be a great occasion for everyone involved and hopefully we can bring the cup back to York.”
