POPPLETON Tigers Under-13s booked their place in the York F1 Racing Minor League Cup final with a 4-2 victory over Hamilton Panthers in the sem-finals.
The Tigers will face Rawcliffe in the final at Pocklington Town’s The Balk base tomorrow, kick off 2pm.
Poppleton and Hamilton Panthers finished level on points with Fulford at the top of the York F1 Racing Minor League division one table and they played out a tight last four clash at the Tigers’ Millfield Lane ground.
Thomas Palmer gave the home side the lead and, although the Panthers levelled, Jack Leeming’s goal put Poppleton 2-1 up at the half-time break.Panthers had a goal disallowed when the referee had already blown for a free-kick in their favour, and Jack Atkinson rubbed salt in the wounds with a third goal for the Tigers.
The visitors pulled a goal back with five minutes remaining, but Atkinson struck his second of the game to ensure his side went through to tomorrow’s final showdown.
