JOE CROSBY struck four times as York Schoolboy Under-12s romped to an 8-1 win at Bradford.

A Nick Hutton brace, along with other goals from Dan Allinson and Luke Morris, completed the rout.

Allinson converted a penalty, for a trip on Crosby, to give the Minstermites an eighth-minute lead.

By half-time, the visitors led 3-0 thanks to Crosby’s first of the game and a fine solo effort from Hutton.

Two quick goals after the break saw Crosby complete his hat-trick before York’s solid back four of man-of-thematch Jamie Higginbottom, James Hanson, Lucas Wilson and Charlie King could not prevent a Bradford consolation.

Further strikes by Morris, Hutton and Crosby, though, saw York run out comfortable winners.

York U14s forged back from 4-2 down with three minutes to go to claim a draw and almost snatched a last-gasp winner when Joe Kemp’s deflected header hit the bar with seconds remaining.

During the early stages, Eddie Greenhill saw a chance cleared off the line after his pace had taken him past the visitors’ last defender and around the goalkeeper.

At the other end, Owen Marshall headed off the line but Joe Kilvington was proving a menace for York at corners and headed narrowly wide from a well-delivered flag kick.

Bradford gained the lead, however, when they sprung their hosts’ offside trap. An equaliser followed when Kilvington forced the ball home following an in-swinging centre from Zac Lawrence.

Kilvington forced a save from the Bradford keeper moments later but the West Yorkshire team went back in front when a through ball caught out the York defence and it was 3-1 by half-time after the home side failed to clear their lines. The Minstermites reduced the deficit when man-of-thematch Lawrence converted a penalty, awarded for a high foot.

Lawrence had a well-driven second spot kick saved, however, after Marshall had been brought down and, after Greenhill (twice), Kilvington and Lucas Hindle all went close to levelling the scores, Bradford grabbed a fourth goal by exploiting gaps.

With time running out, another Bradford attack was broken up with Alex McMillan charging down the centre of the pitch before supplying a perfect through ball for Lawrence to chip over the advancing keeper.

Kemp then equalised after McMillan’s header had been saved from a free kick and the woodwork went on to save Bradford from defeat.

Jack Atkinson completed a secondhalf hat-trick to fire York U13s to an 8-4 triumph at Bradford.

The Minstermites had earlier trailed 4-3 at the interval with efforts by Dan Moll, Alfie Atkinson and Jacob Little wiped out by two conceded goals in the final minute of the first period - one due to a miskicked clearance and the other from a penalty.

A comeback then saw Alfie Atkinson and Moll hitting the target again as Jack Atkinson enjoyed his treble.
