A YORK school’s football team has hit the back of the net with a donation from the city’s branch of Yorkshire Building Society.

Juniors at St Wilfrid’s RC Primary School received £250 from the branch in Feasegate to purchase new football kits for the entire under-10 team, after being nominated by one of the player’s aunts – also a customer of the Yorkshire.

The donation was from the Society’s Community Investment Fund, which helps good causes in the local community where staff and members live and work.

“We always think it’s really important for local businesses to do what they can to support youngsters in sport and to help those in our local community,” said Rosie Brierley, assistant branch manager at the branch.

“We’re pleased to be making a difference to a sports team at one of our local schools.”
