YORK under-11 schoolboys booked their place in the Green Un Cup final following an 8-1 demolition of last-four hosts East Riding.

Josh Hall and Will Jarvis both hit hat-tricks for the Minstermites with Bankole Claudius-Cole bagging a brace.

Earlier, East Riding had started brightly, putting the York defence of Liam White, Simeon Hopkinson and Luke Jones under intense pressure while a last-ditch tackle by Jimmy Gore thwarted a scoring opportunity.

East Riding’s pressure was rewarded with a goal on 13 minutes with the York defence left outnumbered and Nathan Storr stranded by a calm finish.

Elliott Oliver and Gore then started to support York’s forages into the opposition half and, on 17 minutes, a pinpoint pass out of defence by Jones picked out Jarvis just inside the East Riding half.

Showing great control, he then beat two defenders before firing in a low shot.

Hall, named man of the match for his devastating runs, doubled the lead when he picked the ball up in midfield and dribbled into a goalscoring chance that he converted.

A fine save from Storr then kept the hosts at bay before a fine passing move between Declan Simpson and Gore led to the latter teeing up Jarvis to make it 3-1.

York were benefitting from some stout defending by Tom Eaton and Alfie Evans, while Gore and Jones were controlling the midfield and another great run from Jarvis saw him cut the ball back for Hall who finished with deadly accuracy.

After White narrowly shot over, Hall completed his hat-trick at the start of the third period with Jarvis claiming another assist.

Claudius-Cole added a sixth following a quickly-taken free kick that released Simpson down the left.

A long punt upfield from Storr went on to provide a hat-trick chance for Jarvis that he duly dispatched.

From Hall’s short corner, Jarvis then delivered a dangerous cross that picked out Claudius-Cole for his second goal of the game.

York are now chasing a league and cup double in their first season together.

Should they beat Barnsley and Leeds in their last two league games they will be confirmed as champions.
