WIGGINTON Grasshoppers will meet Pocklington Town Predators in the final of the York FA Under-16s Senior Minor Cup.

The Grasshoppers were 1-0 winners over Tadcaster Magnets in the semi-finals, with a tight, physical game settled by Ryan Foster’s second-half penalty.

Pock won 2-1 at Brooklyn in the other last four tie, taking the lead with a breakaway goal in the first half.

The Ryedale hosts levelled ten minutes into the second period, but the Predators snatched the winner with seven minutes remaining.

Copmanthorpe stormed into the final of the York FA U14s Intermediate (Junior) Minor Cup with a 4-1 home win over Wilberfoss Mavericks.

Cop were 1-0 up at half-time through a Dan Murrie goal and managed three more in the second half from Joe Stilgoe (2) and Zak Lawrence, with one in reply from Wilberfoss Mavericks’ Jack Bielby.

In the final they will face York Cubs, who were handed clear passage through the semi-finals when Brooklyn resigned.

The York FA U12s Acaster Steel Junior Cup final pits Pocklington Town Colts against Heworth.

The Colts were 3-1 winners at home to Poppleton Tigers.

The sides were level at the break after Pocklington’s Jack Creaser had cancelled out a Luke Morris opener.

However, it was Pocklington who proved stronger in the second half as they scored further goals through Harry Cooper and Will Ella.

Heworth raced into a 5-0 halftime lead over Stamford Bridge and managed a further four before Stamford responded with a late consolation.

Josh Goodway netted a hat-trick and there were other goals for George Robson (2), Lucas Wilson, Robbie Simpson and Sam Parnell, plus an own goal.
