YORK Schoolboys under-15s moved to the top of the Yorkshire League with a comfortable 4-0 win at Spen Valley.

York dominated the game, with Alex Wilson and Elliot Fenton controlling midfield.

Having played some attractive football, York took the lead when Spen failed to clear a corner and Will Hall finally managed to put the ball in the net after an almighty goalmouth scramble.

It wasn’t long before the lead was doubled, and it was Fenton – who picked up his second consecutive man of the match award – who set it up with a brilliant through ball to Adam Wilson, whose expert finish gave York a 2-0 lead at the break.

York continued to dominate after half-time and Niall Smallwood scored the third with a good strike from just inside the penalty area to effectively end the contest.

A forlorn looking home side had no answers to the attacking play of York, as the visitors missed a host of chances to put them even further out of sight before Wilson completed the scoring with a well taken volley from a corner.

York have home fixtures against Middlesbrough, Sheffield and Bradford remaining as they look to wrap up the league title.

York U13s recorded a 3-1 victory over a strong Nottingham team.

The home side took the lead when Alfie Atkinson’s precise cross found Jack Atkinson and he tapped home to give them the lead at half-time.

Although Nottingham had their chances, York quickly put the game out of reach after the break. Ben Buck scored a stunning long-range effort and Dan Moll added a third with a clinical finish.

Nottingham scored a consolation goal in the closing stages as York pushed for more goals.

The U13s next game is at South Nottinghamshire on March 15.

York U11s also saw off Nottingham, this time coming from behind to claim a 5-2 win.

Will Jarvis was the star of the show for York, as he scored a fantastic four goals to lead his side to victory.

Despite York taking an early lead through Josh Hall Nottingham dominated the early stages and their pressure paid off when they equalised just before half-time.

The away side were rewarded with a second goal just after the break. This sparked Jarvis into action, and he beat the high defensive line time and again, scoring two quick goals.

Jarvis completed his hat-trick when Alex Kemp set him up to finish, and his fourth came from a superb finish to leave the ’keeper with no chance.
