FULFORD School pupil Rosie Todd has earned an England Girls’ Under-17 call-up.

The North Yorkshire Girls’ Centre of Excellence goalkeeper has been selected for the Three Lionesses’ talent identification squad that will train at St George’s Park – the National Football Centre in Burton – next week.

Todd, an avid Liverpool fan, started out as a defender for Dunnington’s boys team at the age of six.

Two years later, she joined Poppleton girls, where she was converted into a ’keeper.

She also lined up between the sticks as Dunnington’s school team won the York City CPP Primary Schools’ Cup in 2009 and 2010 and has represented North Yorkshire for the last six years.

Todd previously attended an Elite Performance Camp for prospective England players in 2011 and took part in a development tour to Villarreal.

Along with football, she has played cricket for North Yorkshire and Dunnington, while representing her school during the Indoor County Finals at Headingly.

She was also a semi-finalist in the county round of the National Schools’ Badminton Championship and was a member of Fulford’s gold-medal winning rugby team at the North Yorkshire Games.

Adding to her reputation as a talented sportswoman, meanwhile, Todd has played tennis, volleyball, badminton, netball and rounders for her school and tennis for Dunnington.

On her latest achievement, Fulford School business manager Sue Keeble said: “As a school, we are extremely proud of Rosie and wish her all the best in her training with the England squad.

“As a PE department, we are very lucky to have Rosie. She is a positive personality who is always willing to help others strive in PE lessons and clubs.

“She is a pleasure to teach and a great role model to the other students.”
