FORMER York Wasps rugby league star Andy Precious has come on board to help out up-and-coming players at local club New Earswick All Blacks.

He has been joined in a new sponsorship deal by a man popular with folk at the All Blacks and York City Knights alike.

Prop star Precious, a Great Britain Under-21s international, played 134 games for York and 91 for Hunslet in a 12-year semi-professional career, having gone through the junior ranks at the All Blacks.

He has now given more back to the amateur club by sponsoring both the open age side and the club's under-10s team through his firm Precious Flooring.

And joining him is Steve Bomber' Harris, a former All Blacks player and a semi-retired kitman with the Knights. His taxi-bus firm, Anytime Travel, is also involved in the sponsorship deal.

The two firms have forked out just short of £1,000 to pay for polo shirts for the open age team and all involved in the U10s. "If you look smart, you play smart," quipped Bomber.
