JUNIORS at York Cricket Club celebrated a season of success at their end of season awards.

More than 120 players and parents attended the presentation ceremony at the club’s Clifton Park base.

The under-9s league squad, under head coach Derek Lancaster, have reached the Finals Play-off, which will be played at the start of next season after being washed out, while one of the development teams won their league.

The U11s hardball side, coached by Nigel Durham, won the league cup and finished as runners-up in the league, while the incrediball side lifted their cup.

The U13s squad, under head coach Mark Burn, did the district double - winning both the league and cup.

The U15s team, led by head coach Mick Hammerton, won the district league cup and were league semi-finalists.

Their major success came in the ECB County and National Cup where they were crowned Yorkshire champions, then North of England champions in qualifying for the last four in the country. They eventually finished fourth out of the 1,700 clubs who entered.

The U19 side, captained by Chris Burn, entered the new ECB County and National Cup and followed the U15s as Yorkshire champions, going straight onto the national finals for the last four before losing to Surrey champions Sunbury.

The awards for the U11s, U13s and U15s were presented by departing first team captain Dan Woods, who was delighted to see junior talent progressing through the club.
