BOLTON Percy Cricket Club under-15s belied their tender years to be crowned North Yorkshire under-17 champions at Harrogate's county ground.

Despite including more Yorkshire representative players than the other teams, Bolton's side largely consisted of U13 cricketers but the girls finished unbeaten on the day in an eight-a-side, eight-over innings format.

Thrilling last-ball victories were clinched against much older teams from Richmond and North Stainley - the respective 2012 and 2013 title winners, as captain Hannah Greenwood lifted the tournament trophy.

Eve Perrin, meanwhile, was named Player of the Tournament for her breathtaking six hitting to finish each innings.

The triumph represented an excellent end to the season for a Bolton team who finished second in the North Yorkshire Girls League by virtue of completing less games than the champions and made it through to the final of the York and District Boys League U13 Cup final, where they narrowly lost by 12 runs to a strong Dunnington team.

With over 130 girls at Harrogate on the day, Percy had four junior sides competing and the U11s also finished a creditable second in the tournament's intermediate hard ball competition.
