YORK won the York & District Junior Cricket Association Hirepoint Plant & Tool Hire Under-15 Championship with a 21-run triumph over Sheriff Hutton Bridge in the final.

Despite the Clifton Parkers’ dominance of the competition in recent seasons, the final at Heworth was more even than the final score suggests.

York batted first and posted a below par 93-6, with Ted Patmore top scoring on 21, while Cameron Burdass made 19, Sam Elliott 14 and Felix Van dor Borgh ten not out.

Bridge were excellent in the field and bowled tidily, with wickets falling to Issac Giannini (1-10), Harry Sutcliffe (1-13), J Kay (1-13) and Joe Simpson (2-20).

York bowled equally well with Burdass the pick of the bowlers, recording figures of 3-14. Patmore finished with 1-16, Van dor Borgh took 1-17 and Elliott claimed 1-14.

They managed to restrict Bridge to 72-9, despite 26 from Sutcliffe.

The trophies were presented by Paul Wilkinson, chairman of the Y&DJCA, on behalf of the sponsors, Hirepoint Plant & Tool Hire.
