BOLTON Percy Girls made history by becoming the first all-girl team to reach a York & District Junior Cricket Association cup final.

Percy ousted last year’s beaten finalists Clifton Alliance in the semi-finals of the Hirepoint Plant & Tool Hire Under-13s plate competition.

Hannah Poulter made 30 not out as Percy totalled 79-5 in their allotted overs and, in reply, Dan Moll hit 20 but Alliance fell short with 65-4.

Dunnington lay in wait in the final after they beat Tadcaster Magnets by 12 runs in a closefought game. Harry Griffen hit 32 not out as Dunnington closed on 76-8, with M Denobriga taking 3-22.

In the Magnets’ reply, Denobriga scored 30 not out, but Harrison Mussel’s 3-19 helped Dunnington to restrict the response to 64-9.

The final at Malton & Old Malton proved to be a competitive affair, with the main difference being the extras conceded by Bolton Percy.

Dunnington batted first and hit a challenging score of 118-2 with Mussell making 30 not out and Harry Claxton 31 not out.

Both the wickets that fell went to skipper Abigail Morley, who returned figures of 2-24.

Lia Dobson top-scored with 20 not out in the girls’ response as the innings closed 17 runs short on 101-6.

Finlay Smith was the pick of the bowlers, taking 2-18.

Meanwhile, Dunnington joined York in the final of the U13 Championship. Harry Griffiths (30no) and Charlie Cresswell (30no) led the way as Dunnington made 100-5 in their semi-final against Woodhouse Grange.

They were supported by Mussell and Joe Richardson, who made 17 and 13 respectively.

In reply, Dan Durkin put up a fight with 30 not out, but the Grange innings closed on 93-7.

The final will be played at Bolton Percy on Sunday, August 31, at 11am.
