ACOMB completed a hat-trick of titles in the York & District Junior Cricket Association Quality Solicitors Burn & Company Under-11s Championship division one.

Acomb ‘A’ and York were neck and neck throughout the season and, after victories over Selby and Malton & Old Malton respectively, the top two met in a title decider.

The Acomb bowlers proved to be the difference in a three-run win, although they were aided by a dropped catch by York in the final over.

Acomb’s Harry Watkinson hit 14 not out, Dan Tingle 13 not out and Ben Thornton 11 not out as Sam Lonsdale claimed 1-4 and Sam Mansfield 1-5.

Watkinson then took 4-5 and George Pickard 3-2 and, although Tudor Maude made 19 and Toby Search made ten, York fell just short of their target.

Elsewhere in division one, runs for Tom Kirby (21), Harry Jackson (21) and H Forman (19) gave Pocklington a victory over Woodhouse Grange.

J Crane starred for Heworth with 35 as they saw their way past Woodhouse Grange.

In reply, Arlo Miller made 11 for Grange.

In division two, Clifton Alliance beat Stamford Bridge.

Clifton’s Ben Croft made ten runs and took 2-1, alongside Ben Heath, who made ten and took 3-4. Jack Green also took 2-8.

For Bridge, Connor Booth took 2-18 and Peter McFarlane 2-18.

With only a few games remaining in the league season, Alliance top the table.

Walton beat Heworth ‘B’ by 40 runs before coming up against a much stronger Yapham side.

Despite Tom Gilding taking 2-10, Walton succumbed as Arthur Bryce hit 20 and took 5-11, and Louis Eccles made 20 for Yapham.

There were also wickets for Walton’s Henry Kay (3-0) and Harry Jones (2-16).

York reached the semi-finals of the Quality Solicitors Burn & Company U11s Cup with a win over Pocklington.

Batting first, Pocklington made 95-4 thanks to 30 not out from Ted Baty and 33 not out from Harry Jackson.
