YORK ‘A’ qualified for the play-offs and maintained their unbeaten record with a ten-wicket win over Heworth ‘B’ in Zone ‘A’ of the York & District Junior Cricket Association Hirepoint Plant & Tool Hire Under-15s Championship.

Going into the final round of fixtures, three teams are vying for second place. Sheriff Hutton Bridge are second with 20 points after beating Acomb.

Tadcaster Magnets are in third on 19 points following a win over Ovington, while Woodhouse Grange are fourth on 18 points.

Grange met Ovington and, batting first, made 86-8 with Tom Stubley hitting 31. Ovington could not overhaul this and closed on 78-8 with 37 from Matty Roberts.

Osbaldwick totalled 80-5 in their clash with Stamford Bridge but lost the game, the East Yorkshire side getting past the winning post with four wickets still in hand.

In Zone ‘B’, Heworth and Londesborough Park are through to the play-offs.

Malton look likely to finish third.

Batting first at Clifton Alliance, they were bowled out for 79. Brad Freer hit 25 but there were wickets from Alliance’s Josh Summerscales (3-14) and Jake Atkinson (3-13).

Malton, though, bowled Alliance out for 74 to take the points.

The bottom two were in opposition at Gilberdyke where the home team had their first win of the season against Hemingbrough and swapped places in the table.

Nathan Creaser (53no) was the pick of the Gilberdyke batsmen in a score of 146-3. Hemingbrough’s reply was a creditable 91-6.

Hayden Bradley (45 and 3-0), with 30 from Alex Wilson, helped Dunnington to take the points against Pocklington. Batting first, Dunnington made 159-4 while Pocklington closed on 55 all out.

York will play Acomb in the final of the Hirepoint Plant & Tool Hire U13 Cup.

After winning the toss, York elected to field against Sheriff Hutton Bridge. Theo Smerdon hit 19 and Oliver Head 12 as the York bowlers restricted the score to 62-7.

Sam Backhouse was the pick of those bowlers with figures of 3-14, while Matt Scurry with 2-11 also chipped in. Scurry then proceeded to hit 32 not out as he and Matt Roberts (11) saw York to an eight wicket win.

Dunnington made it through to the final of the Hirepoint Plant & Tool Hire U13 Plate with a win over Tadcaster Magnets.
