YORK qualified for the playoffs with a win in the rain over Heworth in Zone A of the York & District Junior Cricket Association Quality Solicitors Burn & Company Under-9s Championship.

Elias Smith hit 34 not out, Finlay Recchia 14 not out with Darsh Johar taking 3-0 and Ben Wright 2-8. There were some big scorers for both sides in Acomb A’s win at Bolton Percy.

Acomb’s Danny Pye topped the list with 43, supported by Charlie Grayson (23), Billy Armistead (17) and Annie Brown (10). Thomas Wood took 1-3 and Sam Brown 1-17. For Percy, Oliver Appleyard made 38 with Will Houseman taking 1-17 and James Cook 1-22.

Benjamin Sellers hit 25 and Bobby Mortimer ten in Heworth A’s win over Osbaldwick in Zone B.

Joseph Smith took 2-2, Raul Patel 2-2, Drew Patel 1-3, Bobby Mortimer 1-5 and Matthew Briggs 1-1. For Osbaldwick, Alexandra Hall took 1-3, Thomas Hardy 1-6, as well as top scoring with 14 runs, Dylan Tasker 1-10 and Callum Hall 1-11.

The reverse fixture also went the way of Heworth. Benjamin Sellers (12no) and Bobby Mortimer (12no) were once again in the runs and Joseph Smith (1-3) together with Drew Patel (1-3) were also in the wickets along with William Stone (1-2) and Raul Patel (1-5). For Osbaldwick, Hall was once again a wicket taker - this time with 1-6.

Heworth recorded their third win inside a week by beating Stamford Bridge. Adam Wong top-scored with 17 and Benjamin Sellers (15) together with wickets from Edward Hanley (2-2) and Joseph Smith (2-8).

Previously unbeaten Londesborough Park lost by three runs to Dunnington in a close game.

Londesborough’s effort was led by Ollie Rook 24 not out and 1-1.

Zone D of the Quality Solicitors Burn & Company U9 Development League saw North Duffield and Yapham in a tight tussle.

Yapham prevailed thanks to 38 not out from Flynn Sangwin, 32 not out from Archie Wilcock and 19 not out from Will Jones. Jones ended with bowling figures of 2-7 and Wilcock 1-6. For Duffield, Luke Miller took 1-8 and also made ten not out.

In a game played in steady rain, Yapham overcame an equally young Pocklington team by 33 runs. Yapham’s Flynn Sangwin made 19 not out, Archie Wilcock 14no and Will Jones 13no.
