ACOMB Cricket Club Under-13s cemented their place as one of the leading sides in the county with a run to the final of the Yorkshire Cup.

The Acomb youngsters beat Hull Zingari by 98 in the semi-finals before going down to West Bretton by 54 runs in the final.

Acomb batted first against Zingari and scored 114 runs, with Chris Wood and Daniel Watkinson both retiring on 31 and Charlie Brookes scoring 28.

The York side then stunned Hull with their bowling and fielding, bowling them out for only 16 runs in 11.3 overs.

Dan Toon bowled 1.3 overs and took 4-1, Wood’s four overs yielded 3-3 and Daniel Watkinson’s two overs earned him figures of 2-1.

West Bretton batted extremely well in the final to score 106 runs.

Jamie Thornton took 1-9, Thomas Brown 1-12 and Harry Watkinson 1-16.

Acomb were then bowled out for 52, with Daniel Watkinson making 14 and Wood ten.
