ACOMB and Heworth met in both Zone 'A' and 'B' of the York & District Junior Cricket Association Quality Solicitors Burn & Company Under-9s Championship.

In both games, the clubs' respective 'A' teams triumphed after making big scores.

In a big Acomb 'A' total, Danny Pye hit 37, Billy Armistead 26, Thomas Wood 18 and Charlie Grayson 16. There were wickets for Billy Armistead (3-0) and James Hickey (3-2). For Heworth, William Stone took 1-28.

In Heworth 'A’s score, Adam Wong hit 28 not out, Reece Thompson 17 not out and Jacob Inkster 17 not out. Wong also took 1-8 with Thompson 1-11 and Benjamin Sellers 1-7.

Zone 'B' saw Stamford Bridge travel to Malton & Old Malton and take the points in a close game.

Batting honours for Bridge went to Thomas Holmes, with 12 not out , and Fenton Griffiths and Will Leonard who both scored 11 not out. Griffiths and Leonard topped the bowling with 1-4 and 1-6 respectively. Pick of the Malton reply was J Johnson (eight not out) and C Tyson 1-5.

Dunnington 'A' beat Osbaldwick by 41 runs.

Wheldrake's Oliver Lambert hit 20 in his team's win over Dunnington 'B' in Zone 'C' of the Quality Solicitors Burn & Company U9 Development League.

Matthew Wills supported with 11 and took 1-5 with the ball. There were also wickets for Danny Exton (2-4) and Ben Contoret (1-1).

There were lots of runs for both sides in Zone D as Acomb 'D' beat Ovington 'B'.

Acomb’s Monty Dodsworth top scored with 24, Harry Barnish hit 17 and there were not out scores from Alex Cooper with 13, Billy Glover 14 and Patrick Tingle 14.

With the ball, Cooper took 1-3 and Barnish 1-4. For Ovington, Jackson Clarke hit 20 not out and took 1-10. Joe Fowke struck 17 not out, Ted Farrell took 1-9 and Luke Smith posted figures of 1-14.

York 'B' had a close win over hosts North Duffield thanks to 11 from Hugo Nixon, 1-6 from Adam Doeg and 1-10 from George Burton.
 

ROB BODDY and Jack Rushworth were the stars as Yapham posted 82-9 in their York & District Junior Cricket Association Hirepoint Plant & Tool Hire Under-13s Cup first round match with Heworth.

Jack Wilkinson struck with 3-7 for Heworth and Will Rowntree took 2-10 but Boddy scored 18 and Rushworth hit 12.

Yapham's bowlers then took over with Ollie Robinson (2-12) and Sam Noble (1-6) curtailing the Heworth reply to 64-7. P Mulvey with 16 was the pick of the batsmen.

Acomb made 82-6 as they met Magnets in the cup thanks to a 51 run seventh wicket partnership between Thomas Brown (17no) and Charlie Brookes (24no).

M Denubriga (2-13) and C Dawson (2-13) were the pick of the Magnets bowlers. Accurate bowling from Dan Toon (4-11) Thomas Brown (3-11) and Dan Watkinson (3-5) stifled the Magnets reply, despite Charlie Marr carrying his bat throughout the innings for 26 not out.
