CLIFTON Alliance were in good form as they clinched a big win over Heworth ‘B’ in zone ‘A’ of the York & District Junior Cricket Association Quality Solicitors Burn & Company Under-9s Championship.

Oliver Brookes-Humphrey top-scored with 26 and he was supported by not out scores of 23 from Ben Bruce, 20 from Jamie Hudson and 17 from Toby Baker.

Baker also took 2-9 and there were wickets for Hudson (2-9), Brooks-Humphrey (1-2) and Matthew Carruthers (1-7).

B Sellers made nine for Heworth, while there was a wicket apiece for Reece Thompson (1-11), Oscar Taylor (1-13) and J Smith (1-14).

Acomb ‘A’ had a handful of batting stars in their win at Sheriff Hutton Bridge.

James Hickey top-scored with 23, Thomas Wood hit 21, Billy Armistead got 15, Annie Brown 14, and Danny Pye 14.

Wood took 1-4 and Pye 1-14.

For Bridge, C Pipe made 15 and captured a wicket, while A Lyons took 1-9.

In zone ‘B’, Dunnington ‘A’ got the better of hosts Acomb ‘B’ thanks to 21 from Harvey Jackson, 13 from W Darley and 2-8 from T Appleton.

Acomb’s Benedict Nightingale hit 11 and there was a wicket apiece for Will White (1-4), Lee Toon (1-6) and Sophie Kay (1-9).

In zone ‘C’ of the Quality Solicitors Burn & Company U9s Development League, York squeezed to a four-run victory against Dunnington ‘B’.

York’s Harrison Harrand made 24 and took 1-5, while Dunnington’s Charlie Richardson made 19, Harry Jackson 16 and T Appleton took 1-4.

Malton & Old Malton won at Ovington ‘B’. L Walsh (18 and 2-9) was the pick for Malton, supported by B Shaw (2-11), F Tyson (2-6) and E Hudson (2-1).

All-rounders Reilly Cowling (19 and 0-5), Jake Mead (14 and 0-3) and Freddie Marshall (12 and 1-5) made Clifton Alliance’s trip to Acomb Girls a victorious one as they took the points.

Acomb’s Lucy Watkinson made 13 not out, Maria Linerello returned figures of 0-4 and Libby Devaney 2-20.

Bolton Percy Girls had a 49-run win over Ovington ‘C’ but lost by a similar margin to Dunnington ‘B’.

Drax opened their zone ‘D’ account with a home win over Pocklington thanks to 13 and 2-0 from Dan Penistone and 3-17 from Bobby McKee.

Pocklington then beat Acomb ‘D’.

Top-scorer was Tess Kirven with 24, supported by 17 from Sam Lazenby and 16 from Abigail Howland.

Acomb’s Billy Glover made 13 and Harry Barnish 11.

York ‘B’ got the better of Acomb ‘D’. Will White made 15 and Archie Pye ten, with B Armitage taking 1-2.

There were wickets for Acomb’s Glover (1-4) and Ben Wright (1-4) and ten from the bat of G Burton.
